What precautions do I need to take?

Before installation or maintenance, or before putting your hands into the aquarium, remove the power supply from all the electrical devices under water. Read the instructions.
Check that there is no damage to the heating cable or plug.

Once plugged in, does the heater remain on all the time, or does it switch off automatically?

The heating cable stays on all the time.

How can I regulate the temperature of my aquarium/terrarium?

By connecting the heating cable to a thermostat.
To maximise the efficacy of HYDROKABLE, Hydor recommends using it together with a HYDROSET thermostat.

How should I install my HYDROKABLE heater?

The heating cable is normally placed on the sand on the bottom of the aquarium/terrarium.
Before installing HYDROKABLE, carefully clean the glass on the bottom of the tank.
Create a regular coil or spiral. The bends in the heating cable should be as gently rounded as possible, because sharp bends could cause malfunctions and thus irreparable damage to the cable.
Position the cable so that the stretch between the black reference notch and the end is completely covered by the material on the bottom of your aquarium/terrarium.
Fix the cable using the suction cups provided. Try to ensure the cable does not overlap.
N.B. If you install HYDROKABLE in a terrarium, make sure the cable is fully covered and that the animal cannot uncover it from beneath the sand, since this could be dangerous for the animal.
Connect the plug of the HYDROKABLE to the control thermostat socket.

Does my HYDROKABLE require maintenance?

Do not use solvents or detergents of any kind to clean the cable; simple rinse under the tap with warm water.
